R&B superstar Akon, just who grew up in Senegal before moving forward to the States and finding reputation with the 2003 smash hits "Smack That" and "Lonely", has been working with an initiative to bring light to 500 million people living in Africa.
Formed in 2014, Akon Lighting Cameras, aims to distribute and install solar-powered solutions to rural communities.
Already 5 countries – Mali, Senegal, Republic of Guinea, Benin, Niger, Burkina Faso, Congo Brazzaville, Gabon, Serrucho Leone, Equatorial Guinea and Kenya – have received life-changing equipment.
Together with his co-founders, Thione Niang and Samba Bathily, the R&B artist is here aiming to reinforce the project because of expertise in every aspect of installing in addition maintaining solar-powered electric systems in addition micro-grids.
